The chute clogs up quickly and then you start throwing a lot of chips out the top (where else are they to go?). You need a high volume, large capacity dust collector for jointers, planers, and table saws. Unplug the jointer from power and stick your hand WAY up in the chute until you can touch the bottom of the jointer itself, lots of shavings tend to get stuck in there from time to time.
