I could have taken a short domestic flight to another island from Male (MLE) and then taken a speedboat to the Conrad, but it would have added a lot of hassle and time to my journey and wasnt particularly affordable either.

Although the staff wasnt aware I was reviewing the hotel, Im pretty sure my request to film video around the resort (Im TPGs director of video) may have triggered the upgrade, especially considering I dont have any Hilton elite status. Having the beach and snorkel reef right outside my door was truly amazing I loved being able to snorkel each morning before breakfast. Beach Villas have huge open-air bathrooms with jetted bathtub.
This trendy resort has a slightly younger vibe, with great watersports facilities and even Wi-Fi on your speedboat transfer, meaning you can flood your Instagram feed with pictures of paradise before you've even arrived at the resort. The villa not only faced the beach but also had an amazing private outdoor garden area with a large daybed and swing in front. This is a rare concept in these Indian Ocean atolls, but youll soon get on board as you try flavourful Hawaiian, Japanese, Thai and Peruvian dishes. The taste of countries of the Pacific Rim are brought to the Maldives by way of the ocean-view signature restaurant Ke-Un. The thatched-roofed Araa Iru meaning Rising Sun serves up diverse international buffets and hosts speciality nights twice a week, including a barbecue with entertainment. Capers is the main restaurant, and there's also the Caf, all-day dining at Jade, and freshly grilled meats and fish at Faru. But back to my meal. After a bespoke tasting menu with wine pairings organised by an excellent sommelier, discover the artisanal cheese room and chocolate cave. New facilities include a large kids' club with indoor play area and outdoor playground. Or ramp it up with a huge choice of watersports theres everything from windsurfing to kitesurfing and paddleboarding (adrenaline junkies shouldnt miss the jetpacks). We love the two-storey Exclusive Duplex Garden Bungalows (exclusively reserved for Kuoni UK guests from November to February) for the space and excellent value that they offer, as well as the fact that they sit in shaded gardens just steps from the ocean.
Its all about setting your own pace here. The main Falhu restaurant is sand-floored, overlooking the ocean with a deck on stilts over the water, and the fine dining restaurant, Aqua, sits on the main jetty, where the chef often comes out to chat to guests.
Diving is one of the most popular activities here. Sandies Bathala brings a great-value all-inclusive option to the Ari Atoll. Discover the worlds first undersea restaurant, Ithaa located five meters below the oceans surface with panoramic coral garden views and reef sharks swimming overhead during visiting hours. Its easy to swim to the reef from the beach, so you can snorkel straight from the shore. Theres a free shuttle day and night to take you to/from the airport. Milaidhoo opened its doors five years ago and offers a world-class Indian Ocean escape with a focus on authentic barefoot luxury. Even if you dont find a rate that includes breakfast, you can guarantee that perk by securing either Gold or Diamond status with Hilton, which you can do simply by applying for a card. Over water, options include Water Bungalows, which have a peaceful location in a shallow lagoon, and the premium Overwater Suites, which have direct access to the ocean.
To guarantee a sunset view from your terrace, you can upgrade to either a Sunset Water Villa or a Sunset Water Pool Villa.
The shower spacious and beautiful, and the rainfall shower head would definitely pass the TPG shower test. The rest of the villas here are overwater.

Basking in one of the Maldives largest lagoons, there are many reasons why Gili Lankanfushi was once voted the best hotel in the world at the TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Awards. While the underwater den, Subsix, lies six metres below the oceans surface, Nest on the second island can be found six metres high up in the treetops, and is a real one-of-a-kind in the Maldives, with private pods suspended among the Banyan trees. Water Villas are on stilts overwater, while spacious and indulgent Senior Water Villas also have an outdoor bathtub.
Despite its size and abundant facilities, Meeru retains a tranquil atmosphere. Although the beach wasnt just for me, it was fairly empty and never felt crowded. All of the villas and suites are contemporary in design, and feature classic Maldivian touches that add to their charm. Rooms are dotted around the island and theyre all Deluxe Beach Bungalows, set amid tropical vegetation and just steps from the ocean. Although the beach wasnt private, each beach villa had its own section of sorts with two loungers, an umbrella and tables. Most are Water Pool Villas, with a curved infinity pool on the deck featuring an overwater gazebo/day bed and steps straight into the ocean. Wow, manta right below your villa, on your first night no less thats a real treat. Though Scubaspas main focus is diving, the yachts unique aspect is that, thanks to the supreme comfort and spa facilities, it appeals to non-divers, too perfect for couples or friends with different interests. However, with the exception of the Two Bedroom Rangali Ocean Pavilion with Pool as this villa category is two-bedroom and can accommodate a family of six. Theres also a PADI dive centre and some great local dive sites. Although Im not big into products, they smelled nice and werent overbearing. Daily boot camp, circuit and yoga classes were offered, as well as beach volleyball, table tennis, power walking and stretching activities. On the beach theres the impressively spacious Beach Villas and a great choice for families, with Family Beach Villas that have a separate kids' room and the Double Storey Beach Villas which are set over two floors with two bedrooms. It sits on one of the longest reefs in the Maldives, with a large sparkling lagoon, and has great snorkelling just steps from the beach. The island's relaxed new daytime eatery, Ata-Roa, serves up a street food-style menu from Mexico and Peru, specialising in ceviche and tacos washed down with pisco cocktails. The watersports centre has plenty of kayaks, sailing boats and windsurf equipment as well as jet skis that you can use for a supplement so its pretty easy to while away a few hours out on the lagoon.
Just be ready to really splurge for this escape, as food is shockingly overpriced and seaplane transfers are expensive. During this toes-in-the-sand dining experience, you can dine freshly caught seafood specialities and fresh lobster menus in a romantic setting on the beach. If its the typically tropical island evening with your toes in the sand evening youre after, then BBQ Shak post sundown is for you. Meaning if you booked a villa for $500 a night and you want to change dates a week in advance, but the rate for the new dates you choose is $800 a night, then you owe the $300 a night difference. Spacious villas are neat and modern inside, with high thatched roofs and dark wood floors. You can even learn how to surf with the help of the island's expert instructors. The recently transformed Finolhu has that top-notch service and jaw-dropping desert-island setting thats typically Maldivian. It can be reached by a short domestic flight and boat ride from Mal airport, but we recommend a scenic seaplane journey of just 45 minutes. For lunch and dinner, the beachside grill is the resort's speciality la carte restaurant, where you can tuck into succulent seafood and mouth-watering grilled meats in front of stunning Indian Ocean views. However, snorkelling and scuba diving are the best ways to explore the rich marine life here. Theres an excellent range of restaurants to cater for all tastes we love the churrasco-style barbecue at Carnivorous, where you can tuck into sizzling steaks, and the Beach Club Grill for boat-fresh seafood. Of course, I had a bit of everything, tasting the rice congee, pork dumpling, a bowl of hotpot-inspired soup, sushi, a chocolate croissant, an omelet, toast and tropical fruits (dont judge me for mixing) and it was all exceptional. Unfortunately, with everything we want to do, we are not going to be able to do all the dining experiences. At sunset, make your way to the upper level of Haali (the sunset bar) with a cocktail in hand. The main restaurant, Kashiveli, is outdoors on the sand, and theres also the intimate restaurant, By The Sea, serving Japanese fusion dishes. Snorkelling on the house reef is just steps from the beach and diving packages are available to pre-book. Villas are light and airy, with thatched roofs and a chic white-washed dcor. 
The room was gorgeous even better than I had imagined. The Hot Rock restaurant is also recommended for the experience of having seafood and exotic meats cooked at your table on volcanic hot rocks. Fen Bar is cool and minimalistic with mood lighting and chilled music, and the place to relax with a cocktail and shisha. Beautiful Kandolhu presents the best of both worlds: a tiny, tranquil island with a lush green interior encircled by glorious white sands and coral reefs, yet with a choice of restaurants and rooms more typical of a larger island. Interiors are rooted in their surroundings, many with private terraces and outdoor rain showers, and island-inspired decor think coastal wall prints, cushions the colour of the sea and jungle, and natural wood furnishings.

Even though I told the Conrad that my return flight to the U.S. wasnt until 11 p.m., I was told on the evening before I left that my seaplane would leave at 3 p.m. the next day, cutting short my final day. Two bars one poolside, one over water along the longest jetty in the Maldives provide ideal locations to enjoy a sundowner or signature cocktails late into the evening. Kandolhu offers one of the Maldives most generous all inclusive packages, including access to all restaurants, plus a large variety of drinks, including in the minibar and in-villa wine chiller. Theres a house reef in swimming distance and a lagoon for watersports, plus a stunning sandbank at the tip of the island. The surrounding waters also offer some of the best opportunities to spot huge pods of dolphins. Every room at the resort is a villa. The Cowrie Suite is at the bow of the lower deck and has a sofa bed that can sleep a third guest. Guests can relax, reflect and unwind during a massage in The Over-Water Spa. Kuramathi is one of the Maldives most popular resorts and it's perfect if you're looking for variety alongside relaxation. The island really stands out from the crowd in its sports offerings on and off the water. And its not just because of its striking-yet-warm toned architecture or its boutique vibe: the wellbeing offerings here are really something to write home about. An infinity pool is perfectly placed on the beachfront, next to the bar with comfy chic sofas for lounging.
And for the record, earlier this week when we took our tests, their site said 96 hours. Kurumba was the very first Maldivian resort to open its doors, back in 1972. Water Villas at Diamonds Athuruga We love the softening bamboo, natural stone and wicker design details as well as the thatched roofs of the villas, public areas and spa.
The island is a haven for divers, with a wealth of top dive sites nearby. 
Villas are superbly spacious and all come with their own private pool. Anywhere else, this off-beat vibe could distract you from your destination. After my breakfast of champions, I ordered lunch from room service and came away disappointed. There are a few new dining options: Moodhu Grill, where meat and seafood are served on the beach, Oishii which offers an overwater teppanyaki experience, and Sea Spirit that opens for lighter lunchtime bites. Food is a big focus at Faarufushi. Head beyond the reef with the experienced PADI and SSI dive crew, or venture out on a snorkelling trip where you can stop on a desert island for lunch. 
Facilities at Veligandu are in keeping with the islands natural Maldivian style. It begins with the main restaurant, Vihamanaa, which serves up buffet dishes from hearty salads to fiery curries. 
Cast adrift in the relatively undeveloped Raa Atoll, Reethi Faru is a wonderfully unassuming private island retreat where its all about letting the natural beauty do the talking. Rangali Island, our secluded adults island, does not permit children below 16 years old to stay in the Water Villas located on this island. This is where youll have all your meals if youre staying on the main island. Its upbeat, its wildly colourful, its bold. Amaznico brings the taste of Central and South America to the Indian Ocean each evening with succulent meat served from the skewer; theres an la carte menu where dishes are available at a supplement but you can dine here and at the Asian restaurant Le Asiatique as part of the Premium All Inclusive package. Velassarus glistening beach and bright turquoise lagoon create a serious wow factor on arrival. I was met by my personal concierge Naim right after disembarking from the seaplane. Although this was an excellent meal, the quality of the food at the resort generally does not match the price. But its definitely worth trying the la carte offerings which include the popular Teppanyaki with its idyllic spot over the lagoon and serving Japanese cuisine with a creative twist, and Sand, where you can enjoy dishes inspired by the Indian Ocean on candlelit tables dotted along the beach. Ready to plan that bucket-list trip to the Maldives? and, this is common to Maldives resorts that utilize seaplane transfers, so plan accordingly, unless you want to fork over $5,000 for a private seaplane transfer at your preferred time. I was given a map of the property and Naim walked me through it, explaining all the elements of the hotel and asking which restaurants I would like to reserve for dinner. I booked a couple of meals but not all of them, as I wanted to have some flexibility during my visit.

Theres a house reef for snorkelling and if you board one of the dive centres boat trips theres a great chance of spotting turtles, manta rays and whale sharks nearby.
Start your days with long leisurely breakfasts at the Beach Kitchen, and choose from Middle-Eastern flavours at the Arabian Grill and Asian fine dining at the overwater restaurant, Kanusan. Snorkels can be borrowed from the resort as part of your all-inclusive package, as can stand-up paddleboards, kayaks and pedalos. This string of four islands with its glorious stretch of sand is situated in the remote Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere thats known for having the best marine life in the archipelago. Bathala will also offer night snorkelling for a totally different perspective of the ocean and marine life. As a larger island, there are also plenty of above water things to do, including enjoying daily entertainment from live bands to cultural evenings. It was my first time diving ever, and I dont think I could have had a better experience. For a chilled out evening for two, screenings can be arranged at the jungle cinema. If you enjoy taking a dip in your own secluded pool, then its worth opting for one of the private pool villas. Children between 06 and 11 years will be charged $ 215 ++ per child per night. For a relaxed evening in, make the most of the in-villa popcorn machine and watch a movie on the big-screen TV! Take relaxation one step further with a visit to the Emerald Spa and unwind with Balinese and Thai treatments in the nest-inspired treetop spa suites. I'm trying to decide what restaurants/dinners to do. The sections are spaced relatively far apart, so it felt semi-private. Hi All, just booked my first 5 night stay in a BV in April 2021, I've been watching this forum for years and I cant believe how much BV availability at 95,000 is free during Feb/March 2021, is this because of the Waldorf taking some of the redemption bookings ? With natural channels and a jaw-dropping house reef just metres from the island, this is a true underwater haven filled with spectacular coral and marine life that include silver-tipped sharks, lobsters and giant sea turtles. Id never been scuba diving before, but if theres any place that inspires diving, its the Maldives, so on the way to my room we stopped at the dive center where I scheduled a Discovery Dive. CMRI has been silent. If you opt for an Ocean Villa, this refreshing spot is the place to be for a front-row view for those epic Indian Ocean sunsets. It costs $85 to enter between 5:30 p.m -11:30 p.m., and I cant think of a reason Id pay $85 to do so. The vast choice here includes Beach Bungalows that are just steps from the shore, Beach Villas with Pool, overwater Water Villas that sit on stilts close to the colourful house reef, and Lagoon Villas with Pool that have views across the calm lagoon.
