I was surprised by how simple this recipe was, and how delicious! I love Pad Thai! The tamarind gives it a wonderfully tangy flavor. This recipe Im sharing today lies in the middle between hardcore authentic version (which even I find borderline too fishy) and very basic westernised recipes that tend to lack the proper depth of flavour and are typically too sweet.

And while it is unquestionably the most popular item on the menu at most Thai restaurants around the world, I was happy to learn years ago that pad Thai is actually quite quick and easy to make at home too! Dried rice noodles are not cooked the same way regular pasta noodles are cooked.

Believe it or not, a great substitute is ketchup. Tamarind paste is a puree of the fruit without the seeds and fibers. How do I turn off Comments so I can view the recipes and articles?
Question if we homemake the tamarind paste, since it makes a whole lot more than what we need, how long do you think itd last in the fridge?

Pretty sure its peanut butter, ketchup and brown sugar? Puree is sold in a jar at supermarkets (Asian section), far easier! When I make it again, Ill use less sugar though. This was a negative for me.

125g doesnt sound like much noodles but they expand when soaked. When cleaning up after dinner I read the note about the tamarind.

The Pad Thai sauce isnt spicy at all. Do you have to rinse the rice noodles in cold water, after soaking them in hot water for 10 mins ?

Thia food is my preferred choice by far! ( 1/4 wide), is that ok. Also, would mushrooms, carrots, bell peppers go well with pad Thai ? It truly stacks up to your favourite Thai takeout except less oily (restaurants tend to use loads of oil) but you will not need to hunt in the dark corners of an Asian store to find the ingredients.
