As a child I was always drawn to animal stories full of adventure and heartbreak and discovery and relationships and life. My summers were filled with watching Days of Our Lives on a tele with bunny ears, smells of grease and oil, and harlequin novels my auntie thought as age appropriate. Both books show the importance of caring, loving, friendship and supporting the ones you love. I, too, have a love of gardening that I was able to tap into upon my retirement a few years ago, when I went through the studies to become a Master Gardener. I loved this book so much as a child that by age 5 I had it memorized from listening to my parents read it to me every night. the men and women have made for our county and to not take living here for granted.
